There is certainly no definite answer to how long it takes one to recover from a total hip replacement in Bangalore because every individual has a different situation, body structure, adaptability, and lifestyle. However, the average time for a patient to return to his normal activities ranges between 3 to 6 months. Is that too long!? Worry not! Initially, within the first 10 to 12 weeks, you would be able to start walking with minimal or no walking aids and you’ll be able to give up on major pain relievers. Initial recovery stage (10-12 weeks)

The early stage of recovery is where you can get out of the hospital bed and be discharged. For the first few days, you will be given a walker to aid your walking. Slowly and gradually, you will realize that you no longer need any walking aids or major pain killers. You will be able to walk around on your own, and get a good night’s sleep without the heavy dosage pills. But, all of this will certainly take around 10 to 12 weeks; so don’t be in a hurry to recover.

Complete recovery (3 to 6 months)

This involves complete healing of surgical wounds and internal soft tissues. This is when you can return to your daily activities which involve house work, going to the market, or even going to office for full-time job. Once you are able to do all your work on your own without any issues, you can consider yourself to be completely recovered. Generally, this kind of healing needs a few months time. Depending upon your medical condition, health, and strength, it can take anywhere between 3 to 6 months. And, even if it takes a little longer, you needn’t worry because there are always some exceptions. Some patients recover in 6 to 8 months; while others may require a longer recovery time. So, all you have to do is keep the faith and have a positive attitude.

As a patient, you need to be prepared for some pain, some efforts, and a positive attitude to help you recover faster. And, if you are one of those who are going to be around the patient, remember that you are required to give the patient strong support and encouragement.
